Best Man Limericks
In case you haven't read it already, I talk about Wedding Limericks in my Best Man Wedding Poems article. Please take a few moments to give it a read. I like limericks - they're short and to the point. Unlike me - I'm tall and tend to ramble on a bit... And limericks are usually (hopefully) funny too, which means although they are poems, guys can read them out without feeling kinda soppy!
I'm still working on my Automatic Limerick Generator, and I'm planning to have it live by March 18th, for no other reason than that's my birthday! In the meantime, here are a few sample limerick verses that you can modify to suit the names of the Bride and Groom. Please feel free to use them. If they're not what you're looking for, why not see what you can get at Wedding Speech 4U
Please note: You may use these limericks as they are, or modify them and use them, in any spoken format, and if you do use them in your speech, feel free to take the credit. However, they may not be passed off as your own work in any written or electronic format. If you do this, I will hunt you down and find you, and while you sleep, I will put snakes in your bed, spiders in your mouth and write
on your forehead.
When Bill proposed marriage to Janet,
Her father was quite keen to ban it,
"Not Bill!", he said, "No!"
But how was he to know,
That her mother was helping to plan it
When Joe and Maria first met,
The guys and I had a large bet,
That she'd never succumb,"
To the charms of our chum,
But she did, so we're all now in debt.
It's Rachel and John's Wedding Day,
And as Best Man it's my job to say,
That we all wish them well,
And we hope life's just swell,
And they're happy in every way.
I've known Richard for most of his life,
And we've see our fair share of night life,
There are stories galore,
But I'm really not sure
I can tell them in front of his wife!
The festivities soon will resume,
And I've just one task left, I assume,
So with glasses held high,
Please join me as I,
Drink a toast to the Bride and the Groom!
No girl has more beauty and charm,
Than the one who is now on Jack's arm,
But from Jane's point of view,
Jack's love for the brew,
Might give her some cause for alarm!
Jack is my very best friend,
On whom I know I can depend,
But sadly I fear,
That wild nights on the beer,
Will suddenly come to an end.
For Maria has captured his heart,
And we hope that they never will part,
With her beauty and grace,
She will now take my place,
And she drinks more than me, for a start!
